Baroque juggling and muddy acrobatics

Accompanied by a harpist, dancer and juggler Nathan Israël is business suited up in the middle of a circular dance floor covered in white mud. As the figures become more and more complex, the slippery, sticky ground gets the better of him, transforming him into a strange creature wading unfettered through the mud, in a grand sweep of unanimous violation, regressive muddy pleasure and inversion of our social conventions. Funny, profound and jubilant, perfectly written and packed with juggling wonders, this baroque show will fill adults and children alike with pure joy.

BIOGRAPHY

> COMPAGNIE LE JARDIN DES DÉLICES / Luna Rousseau and Nathan Israël (Belgium/France)

This circus company was founded by Nathan Israël and Luna Rousseau, two authors, one on stage and the other directing. With a great fancy for materials, their creations question our relationship to the world and to otherness. With L’Homme de Boue (2014), Héros Fracas (2016), Corps et Crues (2017), Gadoue (2018) and La Chose (2019), the company has performed in France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, England, Lithuania and Thailand. Author and director, after a degree in Performing Arts, Luna Rousseau has also written and directed L’ombre de Peter Pan (2012), Marcel.e et Claude by Océane Pelpel and Sebastien Davis Van Gelder (2019) and Vaannila by Anniina Peltovako and Valentino Martinetti (2021). Trained in circus and dance at Espace Catastrophe (Molenbeek), then ENACR (Rosny) and CNAC (Châlons-en-Champagne), Nathan Israël co-founded Cheptel Aleikoum and La Scabreuse in 2003, a company with which he created Taïteul (2006), La mourre (2009) and Lard (2011), before founding Le Jardin des Délices.
