Jennifer Dubreuil Houthemann
Close encounter of the the third kind
From the age of 10

A futuristic, androgynous and ambiguous being, a strange alien made of flesh, bone and metal, learns by mimicking gestures, sounds and emotions… This contemporary neo-futuristic freak show, dreamt up by this dancer and choreographer from Brest, is performed on urban stilts with a sound recording system mixed live by DJ Marion Faure. Constantly in search of balance, Jennifer Dubreuil-Houthemann develops a strange and fascinating paradoxical choreography, with fragile, chaotic and jerky postures that explores the tensions between the old and new worlds.

Born in Brest in 1987, dancer, performer and choreographer Jennifer Dubreuil-Houthemann started dance training at the conservatory from the age of five, before going on to the national higher conservatory of music and dance (CNSMD) in Lyon aged seventeen. At the age of twenty, she was selected to join D.A.N.C.E. (Dance Apprentice Network aCross Europe) in Dresden (Germany) and worked under the direction of William Forsythe, Angelin Preljocaj, Wayne McGregor and Frédéric Flamand. She then spent seven years in Bergen (Norway) with the national contemporary dance company Carte Blanche, working on choreographies by Alan Lucien Oyen, Sharon Eyal, Marcos Mauro, Hooman Sharifi, Cristal Pite and others. Since her return to Brest in 2018, she has been a performer with Voetvolk, a company directed by Lisbeth Gruwez. She has set up her own company, CAD Plateforme, with another dancer and choreographer based in Brest, Guiomar Campos, originally from Madrid. Jennifer Dubreuil-Houthemann has created six performances: Nora (2018), Le petit Jardin (2018), Antes (2019), Voyez comme on dort (2020), La rêveuse (2022) and Bloom (2024 creation).
