A long-time Les Tombées de la Nuit associate through projects such as Olli and the Bollywood Orchestra (2003), Contréo (2010) and The Secret Church Orchestra (2015), Ollivier Leroy returns with a new work blending pop and neo-classical music, always poised on the edge of his haute-contre voice. Life on Rennes — the album is due for release in November 2026 — carries us through dreamlike atmospheres and a mystical universe of strings, winds, electronic textures, guitars and children’s choir. Olli will be in creative residency for the festival at Rennes Opera House with piano, machines, string quintet and the children’s choir of the Maîtrise de Bretagne.

BIOGRAPHY
> OLLI / OLLIVIER LEROY (FR)
Ollivier Leroy, known as Olli, was born in Ploërmel (Morbihan) in 1970. A trained pianist and composer, he turned to voice work at the age of seventeen and very quickly began performing on stage as a singer in various musical ensembles. He discovered Indian culture and tablas, and in 1992 deepened his training during a journey devoted to the austere dhrupad, the oldest vocal tradition in North India. He obtained a master’s degree in musicology from the University of Rennes 2 in 1995. In 2003, he created Olli and the Bollywood Orchestra, which went on to generate three albums and tours around the world. In 2008, he formed the trio Olli and Mood with singer Maude Trutet and Nantes-based percussionist Anne-Laure Bourget, before creating Contréo (2010) and The Secret Church Orchestra (2015). Winner of the Villa Médicis hors les murs grant (2006), he has also recorded as a singer with Mukta, La Tordue, Yann-Fañch Kemener, Shafali and the Mishra Quartet, and has created nine cine-concerts since 2001.
