As part of their festival, Les Tombées de la Nuit extend the metropolitan tour launched in 2024 with Newroz, a solo work of circus theatre exploring otherness and difference. Seven performances across five municipalities in the area, as a prelude to — and then at the heart of — the festival.
Newroz means new day in Kurdish. To the sound of the oud, Bahoz Temaux invites us to an evening of circus storytelling, taking the time to tell a story — his story. Every life is different. Every individual is different. Through a series of anecdotes, from childhood to adulthood and fatherhood, Bahoz Temaux recounts the everyday life of a man of colour confronted with everyday racism.
Part acrobatic and musical stand-up, Newroz reveals carefully chosen slices of life in which human absurdity sometimes gives way to hasty judgement. Bringing together music, circus and a generous dose of humour, with simplicity and without bitterness, Newroz takes on the immense task of fostering tolerance.
In partnership with the City of Pacé – MJC, the Agora Cultural Centre in Le Rheu, the Pôle Sud Cultural Centre in Chartres-de-Bretagne, and the City of Laillé.

BIOGRAPHY
> BAHOZ TEMAUX (FR)
After a childhood steeped in Persian music and nine years of artistic gymnastics, Franco-Kurdish performer Bahoz Temaux trained in circus schools before spending three years at Stockholm University of the Arts (DOCH). There he met Mathieu Lagaillarde and Thibaut Brignier, with whom he co-founded Compagnie La Meute in 2012, alongside three other artists from the École Nationale des Arts du Cirque in Rosny-sous-Bois. The company is now based in Lille. Their first show brought together dodging games, balancing acts, daring risk-taking, aerial lifts and all kinds of acrobatics. After performing as a flyer with Compagnie XY on Il n’est pas encore minuit (2015), he returned for 78 Tours (2016), before spending several years with Le Plus Petit Cirque du Monde, based in Bagneux, on Esquive (directed by Gaëtan Levêque), Escaladant Eleusis and Piano sur le Fil, a circus-staged concert by Bachar Mar-Khalifé. Newroz (2023) marks his first solo journey.
