Les Zef et Mer 2022
New Breton projects
For all ages

Les Zef et Mer festival is all about creating a stage, springboard and platform for innovative, risk-taking and creatively daring music groups from Brittany. The artists invited are often young, steeped in tradition, but also open to other influences and musical styles.

This year at Salle de la Cité, come and hear: the Baleer Bro trio and their contemporary reading of Luzel of Trégor’s collections; the Bèle Louize trio which draws on the oral repertoire of Upper Brittany and will be presenting open-hearted human-centred stories in both a serious and humorous tone; Ebel Elektrik, a high-voltage power trio generating explosive and organic rock where improvisation is king; Erwan Hamon and Yousef Zayed, a duo with a monodic approach that plays with a mix of Arab Palestinian influences and popular Breton music; Kanour Noz (“singer of the night”), a contemporary musical composition based on traditional Vannes songs and melodies sung by Louis Le Hirez, a fisherman who used to sing at night out at sea; Ramajes, a trio of gleaners navigating the hidden paths of Gallo and French oral tradition. The baz-valan will be Simon Cojean, inventor of the “One Breizh Show”, who will be presenting a preview of a new show.

The artists will present their creations to the public. The festival is also a place to convince professionals from the performance sector to include these new acts in their programmes, in front of a broader audience.
