Trampoline and ladder for spectacular aerobatics
For all ages

For the past ten years, acrobat and director Damien Droin has been developing choreographic and circus work around a 60 m2 trampoline, the Acronet, which he designed with a fishing net. In this tandem piece with Émilien Janneteau, he puts a ladder through the canvas, adding a cross-dimensional performance space to explore ambition and the human thirst for elevation. This intense virtuoso yet delicate physical performance takes place between heaven and earth, combining flying, falling and suspension, and mixes weightlessness, choreography and technical prowess, danger and balance.

BIOGRAPHY

> DAMIEN DROIN / Compagnie HORS SURFACE (France)

Damien Droin’s father was a circus performer and from a young age, he has been passionate about acrobatics and trampoline, a discipline in which he took second place in the French Championships in 2004. After attending the École Nationale des Arts du Cirque in Rosny-sous-Bois, he joined the National Centre for Circus Arts in Châlons-en-Champagne where he created the Acronet, an aerial structure similar to a trampoline, designed with a fishing net. With his young company, Hors Surface, created in Toulon in 2011, he mixes acrobatic skill, music and high-flying choreography. After Tetraktys (2012) and Boat Transe Poétique (2013), co-written with composer Fabrice Bouillon Laforest, he worked with directors and choreographers such as Fabrice Melquiot, Yoann Bourgeois, Arpad Schilling and filmmaker Tony Gatlif. He has created Home (2020), Le Poids des Nuages (2021) and Trampoville (2023), productions for public space, and Open Cage (2018) and Entre deux mondes (2022), for the stage. He is continuing his work with Envol and Face au mur, two new shows currently in production.
