Le musée recopié
Art imitating art

After its success at the Museum of Fine Arts of Rennes in 2016, Le Musée Recopié performance will be coming to various national art museums in Brittany. Le Musée Recopié asks a group of 50 to 80 copyists to copy all of the museum’s works by hand in just one day. This experience will be coming to 5 museums in Brittany from May to June 2018, creating a 21st century imaginary museum. Come watch or lend a hand with this colossal task!

Le Musée Recopié is a participatory performance designed by Simon Gauchet and the Ecole Parallèle Imaginaire. It seeks to help visitors and city residents take ownership of the art history and permanent collections of a museum. It means that a pop-up museum can be taken anywhere brick-and-mortar museums cannot go.
