In this collective, dance-driven synthesis of their earlier performances (Braves, La grande folie, Batailles nocturnes…), visual artist and performer Johanna Rocard and DJ Amandine Braud will serve as mistresses of ceremony for this great Saturday-night ball at the Cloître Saint-Melaine. Part ritual performance, part festive gathering, with sacred fools, witches’ sabbath, charivari, carnival, krump, drag, queer, voodoo and burlesque all folded into the mix, this energetic, participatory and therapeutic dance floor works as a collective act of healing, bringing together audience members, professional dancers and local accomplices.

BIOGRAPHY
> BRAVE COMPAGNIE / JOHANNA ROCARD (FR)
Artist, writer, performer, choreographer and visual artist Johanna Rocard, born in Versailles in 1985, trained in dance at the regional conservatoire and obtained qualifications in social sciences before completing a research master’s degree in visual arts at Rennes 2 University, focusing on performance practice and the interweaving of dance and visual practices. A member of Vivarium, a shared artists’ studio space in Rennes, since 2019, and co-creator with Lise Lerichomme and Ophélie Naessens of the artists’ collective La Collective (Rennes), she is currently especially interested in the dance rituals developed by communities, and in inventing, in times of crisis, forms that move between ritual performance (Les Revenantes, La grande folie, El Pelele), performative installation (Batailles nocturnes) and collective performance (Braves, Circle dance). She shares these creations with DJ and musician Amandine Braud, aka Sista Bro, through projects involving collection work, radio sets, performance and DJ sets.
Note for later
In June 2027, Les Tombées de la Nuit and Le Triangle will join forces for the Sonnailles street parade by Johanna Rocard & Lucas Elzière, a grand festive and unifying parade, featuring dance and brass band music, in the Blosne district.
