Bewitching Folk-pop

Halfway between England and Brittany, where he arrived at the age of 15, Kat White has taken the time to develop his bewitching vocals and acrobatic rollercoaster harmonies, rooted in folk and pop but totally free to invent other domains. With his full, dense and lofty voice, he tells us his stories of disappearances, break-ups and ghosts, accompanied by Lucien Renault (drums), Mathias Rivière (guitar) and Enzo Franchi (bass). As one of the artists on the Trans 2024 tour, Kat White takes on a pure thrill ride, both untethered and gentle at the same time.

BIOGRAPHY

> KAT WHITE (France)

A bilingual artist who grew up in England and moved to Brittany at the age of 15, Kat White continued his musical training on vocals and guitar, working with a number of bands (Namas, The Erikson Project, Go Slowly, The Diggers Trio, Sarah Kay Trio), at the Conservatoire de Rennes and at the Centre des musiques Didier Lockwood (CMDL). As a solo artist, he was spotted in Rennes by the Les Embellies festival, the Horizon programme at Antipode / Le Jardin Moderne, the Demi-Lune label and Les Trans Musicales… Telling stories through his prism of Franco-English pop/folk, accompanied by his trio Lucien Renault (drums), Mathias Rivière (guitar) and Enzo Franchi (bass), he has taken the time to develop his own musical identity and textures that highlight the power and versatility of his high, clear voice. For Kat White, music is a means of expression. “Through music, I am able to say who I am” he says. His debut album, Ghosts, will be released this year.
