Journal sans date brings together the visual experimentation of artist and filmmaker Simon Guiochet and the Americana folk sound of Guillaume Fresneau, musician, screen printer and creator of the ReDeYe project. The performance draws inspiration from the poetic writing of Chateaubriand’s Voyage en Amérique, an early work of nature writing by one of the pioneers of French Romanticism.
Calling up the landscapes, wanderings and contemplative spirit of a journal written two centuries ago, the performance reveals the work’s philosophical and ecological resonance. The duo draws us into an immersive world of live music and sonic textures, projected analogue imagery, shadow and light. Intense and poetic.
