Tiny Ruins
(New-Zealand)
Warm & bold folk

UK-born Hollie Fullbrook, alias Tiny Ruins, spent her childhood in New Zealand, where the island’s great beauty inspired her delicate and subtly rebellious songs.

Fullbrook is often compared to Cat Power or Mazzy Star, but shakes off all comparison with her alternative arrangements, voice and unique guitar technique. Her surprising writing and touch of black humour are rare on the ethereal folk scene and fall somewhere between nostalgic poetry and sceptical observation, raw intimacy and the cutting conscience of the world. Her latest album, Olympic Girls, looks at the fragility of happiness and the broad theme of fragile, fleeting and precious freedom.

For the second time this year, after the Samana concert at this year’s festival, Les Tombées de la Nuit will be heading to the Temple de l’Église Protestante Unie de Rennes. On this autumnal Sunday, Hollie Fullbrook will share her world with us. Like she sang in her first album in 2011, “Lean in friend, Lean in friend, And I’ll tell you a tale.”

Sit back and let her serenade you in this solo performance of her latest album, in Rennes.
