Le Banquet Céleste (France)
Music  • From the age of 10
Room pop

A period-instrument ensemble in residence at the Opéra de Rennes, Le Banquet Céleste continues its exploration of European baroque music. This Sunday, they are taking baroque out of its traditional setting for an installation-concert revisiting the golden age of English baroque, from Dowland to Purcell, complete with a few pop-infused detours.

Four musicians appear through a sheer gauze, as if stepping out of an ancient painting… Bathed in a warm light subtly projected onto the veil, an animated still-life video accompanies the concert, acting as a poetic counterpoint without ever distracting the ear. The melancholically sweet viol consort finds an unexpected ally in the electric guitar. This Sunday at the Vieux Saint-Étienne, treat yourself to a visual and musical experience, and simply savour the beauty of the moment.
