The new project of Éric Philippon — guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with La Tordue, and later a musical traveller alongside, among others, Loïc Lantoine — Fil first revealed his talents as a singer-songwriter on a self-produced debut album released in October, J’aime. A record of heart and flesh, fullness and emptiness, scars and shadows, carried by airy guitars, this stripped-back, generous and deeply sincere album unfolds like a poetic road journal. Somewhere between neo-realist chanson and cinematic post-rock, between Tortoise, Miossec and Kat Onoma, Fil draws us into the elegance of his songs and instrumentals.

BIOGRAPHY
> FIL / ÉRIC PHILIPPON (FR)
Alongside Rennes singer Benoît Morel and musician Pierre Payan, Éric “Fil” Philippon was the third member of La Tordue, as guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. Associated with the nouvelle scène française alongside neighbours Les Têtes Raides, the group was active from 1989 to 2003, releasing five studio albums and one live record. After the group split, Éric Philippon and Pierre Payan formed Mécanics, a cine-concert project for very young audiences, and created the music for Olivier Pesch’s animated short Le Gardien du nid. They then worked with theatre company Udre Olik, for whom they composed music while also performing on stage as actor-musicians. Originally from Savoie, Éric now lives in Rennes and has taken part in many theatre and music projects, notably with his friend Loïc Lantoine, whom he has accompanied since 2006. With his close-knit team — Romain Baousson (production), Martin Saccardy (trumpet), and Olympe Philippon (violin and drawings) — J’aime (2025) is his first solo album as a singer-songwriter.
